Research undertaken by a UK holiday company has revealed the number one must have luxury holiday home amenity is a hot tub or private pool, with having a private balcony being voted into second place by the poll of over 1000 UK adults.

The team at www.BlueChipHolidays.co.uk polled people from across the UK aged over 18, and asked them “what is the ‘must have’ item you look for in a luxurious holiday home?”

Respondents could choose from a list of options as well as add their own. The most popular answers are below:
• Private Hot Tub or pool – 34%
• Private Garden or balcony -  31%
• Dog Friendly – 14%
• Private Chef – 11%
• Log Burner/Open Fire – 9%

However when the results were broken down further it became apparent that the holiday must haves varied depending on age and where, within the UK, the respondent identified as home.

A private pool or hot tub was voted the number one must have answer provided by all respondent who lived within the UK. However for those aged over 65 in Northern Ireland a log burner or open fire was preferred, whereas it was a three way tie for those aged between 25 and 34 between a private chef, a private garden and a private pool and hot tub (33% each).

A private chef, log burner or open fire and dog friendly had a three way top spot tie for respondents aged over 65 who lived in Scotland whereas those aged between 54 and 54 favoured dog friendly with a private chef.

I think this shows that when it comes to luxury we all have different ideas of how we want to be treated and what we would like to see.
