5 Tips for getting back in shape after giving birth

If you have just given birth but are already looking to lose all your pregnancy weight, check out these tips that can help you achieve your goal.

1. Take enough rest - mothers have probably heard this time and time again, that they should make it a point to sleep when their baby or babies are also sleeping. But sadly, there are still many who do not follow these. If you are one of those you might think that your sleeping pattern has no effect on your weight. But you would be surprised to know that when you get plenty of sleep can actually help with your weight loss. When you get plenty of sleep, you will not have the craving to eat foods with high sugar and high calories in order to keep your energy up.

2. Eat a healthy diet - it’s important that you stick to foods that will are healthy and will give you a lot of energy. Don’t stock your pantry with foods that are high in calories and also high in sugar, like cookies or candies or even sugary drinks. Instead, you should buy healthy snacks like whole wheat crackers, and those that are filled with fiber so that you can have the energy and you will feel full. It is not advisable to go on a diet to lose weight after you have given birth. Remember that giving birth was no easy feat for your body, regardless of whether you had a normal or Caesarean birth. Your body needs to repair itself and it will not do so when you don’t give it enough nutrients.

3. Ease yourself into exercising - do not attempt to get back to a rigorous exercise regime right after giving birth. As stated above, your body is still in the state or repair, your body will not be able to take intensive exercises until about six weeks after you’ve given birth, even more, if you had stitches, etc.  You can do with something as basic as walking. Walk a little further each day until you can actually start running or jogging. You can even bring your baby with you, just put them in the best Jogging Stroller for Parents and you are good to go.

4. Breastfeed your baby - did you know that breastfeeding burns about 600 to 800 calories a day? Yes, even just lying down on your bed with your baby can help you lose weight. There are even some women who lose all their pregnancy weight without all the exercising and dieting, and all they did was breastfeed.

5. Find a support group that can motivate you - it’s never easy to lose weight, especially if you’re the type of person who needs the extra motivation. Having people supporting you can go a long way in helping you reach your goal of losing weight. Get your fellow mommy friends to go on a class with you, or schedule a day when you can all do yoga, you’ll not only enjoy spending time with them but you’re also achieving your goals in the process.
