2011 sees lowcostholidays.com take on the student market

lowcostholidays.com, one of the top UK travel holiday websites, is taking on the entertaining new world of the student travel market this summer with new budget ventures to beach party destinations and the ever-popular city break.

The student market can be one of the most dynamic but also most unreliable markets, and travel is no exception – how do you offer bargain holidays to a population that is so budget conscious?

lowcostholidays’ answer is to sign exclusive deals ranging from room contracts with top clubbing holiday destination – Ibiza Rocks - to securing affiliate programs with NUS and developing relations with top Universities around the UK.

Ibiza Rocks teamed up with lowcostholidays late in 2010 to offer the most competitive holiday options and 2011 will see this campaign ramp up, starting off with a Free Giveaway to Ibiza Rocks for two in June – ready for the FatBoy Slim Gig on June 22nd, details of which can be found here.

Another venture will be the expansion of lowcostholidays’ relationship with specific Universities. Having already secured NUS affiliation in early 2011, the company has already made significant ground and the project looks set to be a big win. Other exciting ventures already include product pages Universities such as the University College London and sponsorship of Nottingham Trent’s charity event; Escape and Evade.

Kos leads the way as the top clubbing destination this year, up 80% YOY, closely followed by Ayia Napa with a 70% increase. Malia and Zante, unlike 2010 have seen less of a stark rise in bookings with only 10% increases.

A shock entry to some may be the resort of Benidorm. 25 per cent more people have made bookings to the often overlooked beach resort showing that the stigma is rapidly dying. With new resorts and the same diversity of nightlife, food and a warm welcome – it isn’t hard to see why.

Fran Hall, head of marketing for lowcostholidays.com, explains: “The lowcostholidays brand is ideally situated to take a strong hold of the student travel market. Our relaxed ethos and commitment to offering the most competitive holiday prices will enable us to tackle this competitive market head on.

“Our expansion in to new city and long haul destinations such as Amsterdam and Thailand will not only allow us to offer some of the cheapest holidays on the market but also the most exciting.”
