Despite covering Morocco and Egypt in northern Africa, the call of wild adventures in eastern and sub-Saharan Africa has been strong, and today the global youth travel brand has announced a suite of new trips to the region.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office has warned British citizens in Zimbabwe to remain at home as political unrest sweeps the country. Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe is currently believed to be under house arrest in the capital Harare, with the military having taken control of the government.
In a somewhat surprising development given its recent history, the Zimbabwean government has outlined plans for a $300 million ‘Disneyland’ style resort at Victoria Falls. Speaking to the official news agency in the country New Ziana, tourism minister Walter Mzembi revealed a vision for a new resort filled with shopping malls, banks and exhibition and entertainment facilities.
The Honorable Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Walter Mzembi, said African tourism leaders must join together with one voice to rally support for tourism with government and the private sector.
