Breaking Travel News Interview: Sheraton Soma Bay Resort
Despite the political unrest sweeping the Middle East, tourism arrivals in Egypt have remained remarkably stable in recent weeks. One of the many success stories has been the Sheraton Soma Bay Resort – which was recognised by the World Travel Awards as Egypt’s Leading All-Inclusive Resort in 2010. Etihad begins services to the Maldives
Etihad Airways has announced it will commence operations to Malé, the capital city of the Republic of Maldives, on November 1st. The airline – which was recognised by the World Travel Awards as the World’s Leading Airline for the second consecutive year in 2010 – will operate a daily return service from its home base in Abu Dhabi.

World Travel Awards winners celebrate at ITB Berlin
Winners of the prestigious World Travel Awards have been celebrating their success at ITB Berlin, with Leading Hotels of the World chief among them. Europcar, Etihad Airways, and TDIC Abu Dhabi were also on hand as Breaking Travel News caught up with the lucky few.
Virgin Atlantic announces recruitment drive
It may be up for sale, but that hasn’t dampened spirits at Virgin Atlantic, with the airline confirming a recruitment drive today. In total Virgin Atlantic – recognised by the World Travel Awards as offering the World’s Leading Airline Business Class – hopes to create 350 cabin crew roles and 50 pilot posts, with a further 50 jobs added at head office.

With the excitement of the opening ceremonies fading, ITB Berlin today got down to business, with 25,000 trade visitors expected to pass through the turnstiles. Poland – as partner country for the 45th annual exhibition – topped many visitors lists of must see attractions, with the country reporting a strong recovery in visitor numbers over the previous year.
