WTTC announces special addition to programme
Concerns about the recent outbreak of swine flu and the worldwide coverage it is receiving have caused the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), the forum for leaders of the Travel & Tourism industry, to revise its agenda for the 9th Global Travel & Tourism Summit, taking place next week in Florianópolis, the state capital of Santa Catarina, Brazil.
Swine flu no cause for panic, urges WTTC
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has called upon the industry not to panic over swine flu. It stresses that the level of preparedness for such a pandemic within the industry is much better than most people realise, since mechanisms to deal with global health risks have been stepped up considerably since SARS and avian flu last tested the resilience of the Travel & Tourism industry.

WTTC launches challenge on climate change
The World Travel & Tourism Council has unveiled the vision and commitment of Travel & Tourism industry leaders to tackle climate change.The report entitled ‘Leading the Challenge on Climate Change’ was launched at Clarence House under the patronage of HRH The Prince of Wales.
WTTC shortlists candidates for Tourism for Tomorrow Awards
The World Travel & Tourism Council has announced the 12 finalists for the 2009 Tourism for Tomorrow Awards. Under the WTTC’s stewardship since 2003, the Awards recognise best practices in sustainable tourism, and cover four categories - Destination Stewardship, Conservation, Community Benefit and Global Tourism Business.
WTTC unveils theme for tourism summit
The World Travel & Tourism Council has unveiled the theme of its 9th Global Travel & Tourism Summit, which will be held in Florianópolis, Brazil. “Real Partnerships - Energising Economies” aims to provide a forum for debate on how the private and public sector can work in partnership to navigate the travel and tourism industry through the economic downturn.

Dubai to get much-needed Hotel School
Almost perfectly timed, following debate at the recent World Travel & Tourism Council Summit concerning shortages of trained and qualified hotel sector workers, a new hotel school to be located in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has been announced.
