US hotels post declines in occupancy and revenues
The U.S. hotel industry posted declines in all three key performance measurements during November, according to data from STR. Occupancy fell 4.3% to end the month at 49.5% compared to November 2008. Average daily rate dropped 8.3% to finish the month at US$93.60.

Heavy discounting led to a fall in the overall business health of the US hotel industry last month. Room rates, revenues and occupancy levels combined fell by 1.8% in November overall, compared with just 0.1% in October.

The U.S. hotel industry posted declines in all three key performance measurements during the week of 15-21 March, according to data from STR.In year-over-year measurements, the industry’s occupancy fell 4.7 percent to end the week at 58.5 percent. Average daily rate dropped 8.0 percent to finish the week at US$99.92. Revenue per available room for the week decreased 12.3 percent to finish at US$58.45.

The U.S. hotel industry posted declines in three key performance measurements during the month of February, according to data from STR.In year-over-year measurements, the industry’s occupancy fell 10.1 percent to end the month at 53.2 percent. Average daily rate dropped 7.8 percent to finish the month at US$100.41. Revenue per available room for the month decreased 17.1 percent to finish at US$53.42.
