It’s official, summer is finally here as temperatures are expected to rise into the nineties this weekend across the country and in true British style Britons are packing their bags and hitting their nearest beach according to new data released today by Travelodge.
Most Americans plan to travel for summer vacation this year
Americans will be sky-bound this summer when they take a vacation but will tend to stay stateside, according to a survey by John Hancock. Eighty percent of those surveyed said they plan to travel for pleasure this summer, up from 77 percent in the summer of 2012. Of those who plan to travel during this summer, half (49 percent) plan to tour a U.S. city. About one-third is headed to the beach, and 22 percent plan an international destination. Those who aren’t taking a trip this summer plan to do so at another time.
Brands account for 61% of online searches for cruise holidays
UK consumers made 1.7 million searches online for cruise holidays in May, reveals a new independent “Cruise Sector Report – Issue 1”, published by award winning digital marketing agency, Greenlight. Seemingly, the negative publicity suffered by the sector following on from a succession of incidents – from the Costa Concordia disaster, the engine room fire on the Carnival Triumph to the Carnival Legend’s propulsion failure, has done little to deter holiday makers from considering cruise vacations.

ARC, the financial settlement link between airlines and travel sellers, reported today that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies stayed relatively flat at -0.58 percent year-over-year in the five months of 2013 compared to the same period last year, totaling $39.0 billion vs. $39.3 billion in 2012 and $36.7 billion in 2011.

Britons will waste £684m during their summer holiday

Korea arrivals to Guam set to hit record high
Calendar year 2012 proved to be a record-breaking year for arrivals to Guam. The island welcomed over 1.3 million visitors, a level not seen since the mid to late 1990s. Out of the total arrivals last year, 182,829 came from Korea, one of which was the millionth visitor for the year.
