General strike knocks Italian transport network
A general strike in Italy has seen flights cancelled and widespread disruption spread across the national transport network. The largest union in the country, CGIL, called the strike in response to proposed austerity measures in the country.
Aslef leads strike on British railways
Members of the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen have launched the first of two 24-hour strikes on the First Transpennine Express. Over 91 per cent of members voted in favour of industrial action, with a second strike expected to disrupt the service on August 26th.
Little impact following easyJet strike
A walkout by easyJet cabin crew based across France appears to be having little impact, with the carrier operating all departures as planned. As many as 500 cabin crew based at Paris Charles de Gaulle, Paris Orly and Lyon Airports walked out earlier today.
UK airport strike latest
Britain’s main airports have reported no serious delays despite a walkout by UK Border Agency staff. Heathrow and Gatwick said passport control queues were hitting Home Office targets. Operators reported that passengers were being moved through largely on schedule as UKBA brings in contingency plans.

Air traffic controllers to join strike action in UK
