The largest project in Singapore to date – Gardens by the Bay – opens to the public today in a development that immediately transforms Singapore into a beautiful garden city. Set to rival anything that the world has so far seen in terms of innovative modern gardens and occupying 101 hectares the first phase of Gardens by the Bay reaffirms the destination’s standing on the global stage as one of the most vibrant cities in the world.

New chief for Singapore Tourism Board

The Singapore Tourism Board has announced that Lionel Yeo will be appointed to the position of chief executive for three years with effect from June 1st 2012. He will be taking over the role from Aw Kah Peng, who will step down at the end of this month to pursue her personal interests, after more than 20 years of service in the public sector.

Singapore enjoys soaring visitor arrivals

Singapore visitor arrivals reached 3.12 million in Q1 2011, representing a 15.7% year-on-year growth. All three months in Q1 2011 saw record high arrivals with January registering the largest increase. March however remains the top visitor-generating month in Q1 2011. This follows Singapore Changi Airport being voted “World’s Leading Airport 2010” by World Travel Awards.
