Shangri-La opens new hotel in China
Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is opening of its latest hotel in China in Hefei, a city founded as a county seat in the Qin Dynasty between China’s largest river, the Yangtze River, and the freshwater Chaohu Lake. Built to complement the striking structures, which form the modern skyline of Hefei, the 27-storey Shangri-La hotel is centrally located on Suixi Road and to both the commercial area and leisure attractions.
Shangri-La headed for Saudi Arabia following Assila deal
Assila Investments and Shangri-La International Hotel Management have signed a memorandum of understanding in relation to the management and operation of a luxury hotel and residences development in Jeddah, the second-largest city in Saudi Arabia and the principle gateway to Mecca. Slated to open in early 2018, it will be the first Shangri-La in Saudi Arabia. The 242-room hotel will be in a prominent 65-storey development located on Jeddah Corniche Road facing the Red Sea.
Shangri-La Hotel, Nanchang brings new flourish of luxury accommodation to China
Shangri-La Hotel, Nanchang has opened in Honggutan, the new central business district of Nanchang city. Sited on the most sought-after location on the west bank of the Ganjiang River, the hotel has direct views of the magnificent 1,300-year-old Tengwang Pavilion, one of the four famous towers in China, and is a five-minute stroll from the popular Qiushui Square.
Shangri La appoints chief marketing officer
Steven Taylor will join Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts as chief marketing officer on January 5th it has been confirmed. Reporting to Shangri-La president and chief executive Greg Dogan, Taylor will oversee all functions across Shangri-La’s sales and marketing division, including revenue management, sales, digital marketing, brand communications, loyalty and partner marketing, customer insights and relationship management, reservations and distribution and corporate communications.
Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin, opens in China
Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts has opened its 85th hotel in China’s largest northern port city. The 302-room Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin sits on the bank of the Haihe River in the new Hedong District, overlooking Tianjin’s signature architecture dating from the 19th century. Home to nearly 300 Fortune 500 companies, Tianjin is a bustling business destination.
Shangri-La signs to manage The Palm Tower on Palm Jumeirah
Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts and Dubai-based real estate developer Nakheel have signed a letter of intent for Shangri-La to manage a 290-room hotel in The Palm Tower on Palm Jumeirah. The parties expect to sign a comprehensive hotel management agreement for the property in the coming weeks.

Shangri-La to take over luxury Mauritius hotel
Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts has signed a management contract for Le Touessrok, Mauritius. The group will take over management of the resort in August 2014 and will reflag and launch the hotel as Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius in September 2015 following a renovation.

Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London, has opened its doors marking Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ first property in the United Kingdom. Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London is the Hong Kong-based hotel group’s 83rd hotel and third in Europe, following the openings of Shangri-La Hotel, Paris and Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul in 2010 and 2013, respectively.

Shangri-La Hotels signs with PressReader
Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts will replace approximately two million complimentary print newspapers distributed annually to guests with environmentally-friendly digital versions. The Hong Kong-based luxury hotel group has partnered with PressReader, a digital newspaper and magazine service, to make connecting to Shangri-La and Kerry hotels and resorts’ free Wi-Fi even more edifying.
