Airbus has signed a memorandum of understanding with SAS Scandinavian Airlines for hybrid and electric aircraft eco-system and infrastructure requirements research. Collaboration will start in June and will continue until the end of 2020.

SAS takes delivery of first A320neo
Scandinavian Airlines has taken delivery of its first A320neo aircraft, becoming the first airline in Scandinavia to operate the world’s most fuel efficient single aisle aircraft. The plane is the first of 30 on order by the carrier. SAS ordered the A320neo as part of its strategy to modernise its fleet with more fuel-efficient aircraft, reducing environmental impact such as emissions and aircraft noise.

Scandinavian Airlines has appointed Niko Ek to the role of regional general manager, Europe. EK is responsible for leading the UK team, based in London, and staff in Europe. Moving to his new role from head of sales operations in Sweden, he has worked at SAS since 2001, returning to the company following a short break in 2013.
