NYC & Company announce the Muppets as New York City’s official Family Ambassadors
First, The Muppets took Manhattan, and this year they return to conquer all five boroughs of New York City as the official NYC Family Ambassadors. As part of the year-long collaboration, the Muppets will encourage family travel to the city by highlighting the best ways for families to experience and enjoy the many dining and shopping venues, cultural institutions, parks and attractions across the five boroughs.
NYC & Company partners with CityMaps
NYC & Company has announced a partnership with local start-up firm CityMaps to launch a free, co-branded smartphone app available for download on iTunes. NYC Map is a comprehensive digital tool that allows users to navigate New York City using easy-to-recognise names and visual POIs and to customise their experience with filtered content from nearly 90,000 hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and attractions.
NYC & Company announces new tourism goals
NYC & Company has announced a new annual visitation goal of 55 million visitors by 2015 and will focus on attracting the youth market with plans to draw an additional one million youth visitors from around the world in the next five years. New York City’s youth travel market continues to grow, with 15.1 million visitors estimated in 2011—almost 30 per cent of the city’s total visitor volume.
New York welcomes record 50.5 million visitors
New York City welcomed 50.5 million tourists last year, marking a 3.5% increase compared to the previous year, and smashing their goal of achieving 50 million visitors by 2012, according to the latest figures released.

New York prepares for Pride
More than one million people are expected to attend the annual New York City Pride Events which take place over eight days from June 18th–26th 2011. NYC & Company, the official marketing, tourism and partnership organisation for the city of New York, joined with Heritage of Pride Inc to unveil Proud and Powerful as the 2011 theme for the celebration, which will highlight New York as one of the world’s most popular LGBT destinations.

NYC & Company, New York City’s marketing, tourism and partnership organisation, has announced ways to save on dining, entertainment and accommodation in New York this winter.
NY-LON in joint marketing campaign
London and New York will move a step closer following the announcement of an advertising deal to boost tourism between the two cities. The two-year deal will involves each city giving the other advertising space – on bus shelters in NYC and on the tube in London. Tourism bodies Visit London and NYC & Co. have also agreed to share best practices and help each other out with events.
