The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has entered its 30th African country with the debut of its upper upscale brand, Radisson Blu, in Cameroon. The Radisson Blu Hotel & Apartments Douala, Cameroon is scheduled to open in 2019 and brings the group’s African portfolio to 83 hotels and over 17,500 rooms in operation and under development.

Avani Hotels & Resorts, the vibrant upscale brand by Minor Hotels, will debut in North Africa with two new properties in Tunisia, in partnership with Groupe Chaabane. Scheduled to open in the coming months, Avani Les Berges Du Lac Tunis Suites will be located in Les Berges du Lac II, a prime commercial, residential and diplomatic area in the Tunisian Capital.

Protea Hotels by Marriott has announced the opening of Protea Hotel by Marriott, Owerri Select in south-eastern Nigeria, a development which further consolidates its presence in the country. The 90-room hotel, developed by African Capital Alliance, a leading investment firm, and Kunoch, is located in Owerri city, the capital of Imo state.

With the second phase of refurbishments completed at andBeyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp, the camp has reopened boasting a completely brand new look that now extends from the suites to the camp’s main guest areas.

InterContinental Hotels Group has opened a new Holiday Inn property in Mutare, Zimbabwe. The franchised property, owned by African Sun Limited, features 96 rooms, an outdoor pool and a meeting room capable of seating 250 people.

AccorHotels has announced the signing of a hotel management agreement with New Mauritius Hotels, one of the oldest and largest owning and management hospitality companies based in Mauritius. The new agreement will see AccorHotels re-launch the existing property under the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts brand in May 2017.
