MSC signs for two Meraviglia-Plus ships with STX France
MSC Cruises has exercised an option for two Meraviglia-Plus mega cruise ships with STX France. The two underlying options had been confirmed by MSC Cruises executive chairman Pierfrancesco Vago in February. Now the two companies have agreed on all ship specifications hence construction will be able to begin in earnest.
MSC Armonia arrives in Cuba for first time
MSC Cruises has introduced a second ship, the recently fully refurbished MSC Armonia, to homeport in Havana alongside MSC Opera. MSC Armonia earlier marked her traditional Maiden Call as she arrived in Havana on the final leg of her Grand Voyage from Genoa, Italy.

MSC Cruises has announced the expansion of its offering for the UK & Irish market with a new ship calling at Southampton. Starting in 2018, for the first time, MSC Magnifica will board UK and Irish passengers on ex-UK cruises to Northern Europe and the Mediterranean, to address the strong growth in demand the company has been experiencing.
MSC Splendida to homeport in China from May 2018
MSC Cruises revealed today that it will deploy its MSC Splendida to China as of May 2018. In connection with this, following in the footsteps of the announcement of the opening of the new MSC Cruises own office in Shanghai and a new management and operations team based there, the company is taking another key step to further improve its ability to serve the Chinese home market.
MSC Cruises signs four ship deal with STX France
MSC Cruises has signed a letter of intent with STX France for the construction of up to four LNG-powered ships. The four ships, the first of which will be delivered in 2022, will be over 200,000 GRT and will be known as the “World Class”. The announcement was made at the Élysée Palace in the presence of French president François Hollande, as well as MSC Group founder, Gianluigi Aponte, and STX France chief executive Laurent Castaing.

MSC Cruises takes up options on further Meraviglia vessels
MSC Cruises has confirmed existing STX France options to build a further two ships in the Meraviglia class. The two Meraviglia-Plus next-generation ships, as the new class of vessels is called, will feature increased tonnage and overall size, with a total of 2,444 cabins and a maximum capacity of 8,000 people, both passengers and crew.
