Maldives moves to outlaw bottled water
Whole World Water announced earlier Maldives president Mohamed Waheed will celebrate World Water Day by signing the Whole World Water Referendum for Clean & Safe Water. The referendum encourages the hospitality and tourism industry to replace branded bottled water with filtered water sold in recycled, reusable glass bottles.

Maldives government lifts spa ban after just six days
The Maldives government has lifted a nationwide ban on spas and massage parlours, revoking a circular sent by the tourism ministry last week which ordered spas to cease operations. Speaking to reporters this afternoon during a press conference held at Kurumba Maldives resort - the country’s first resort, which began operations in 1972 - the president said the government has requested the Supreme Court to advise whether spas are legal under the Maldives constitution.
Rebrand seeks to boost Maldives tourism
The Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation has revealed the country’s new tourism slogan and logo, after over a year-long consultation and design process, involving industry and government. The new slogan is ‘Maldives – Always Natural’, which is accompanied by a logo highlighting the country’s unique natural characteristics.
Maldives to build floating golf course in Indian Ocean
Golfers may be seeking out the water for the first time if plans for an 18-hole floating golf course in the Maldives come to fruition. Under plans being put forward by Dutch Docklands Company, a series of holes would be built atop floating platforms containing two or three holes.
