Jordan Tourism Board welcomes increase in Indian visitors
The Jordan Tourism Board has announced 2016 Indian arrival figures for the destination, recording an unprecedented decline in the same day visitor arrivals. Daily visitors declined by 4.5 per cent, which indicates that visitors are now spending more time in the country.
UK visitors drive tourism to Jordan
Last year marked another successful year for Jordanian tourism, with UK visitor numbers rising by seven per cent, compared to 2015, with Britain remaining the largest European source market for the Hashemite Kingdom.
Jordan urges calm following terror attack
Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, the managing director of the Jordan Tourism Board, has counselled tour groups are still running as scheduled following a terror attack in the country over the weekend. “Visitors continue to fly into our airports and we do not expect this incident to affect the tourism sector as Jordan remains to be an oasis of calm in a turbulent region,” said Arabiyat.
Jordan reveals latest archaeological wonder at Beit Ras
An ancient tomb has been discovered in Jordan in the northern town of Beit Ras during an excavation project to expand a local waste-water sanitation network. The tomb includes a cave with two burial chambers. The larger chamber contains a basalt stone rock-cut tomb decorated with raised etchings of two lion heads and with several human bones enclosed.
ExtraJORDANary tourism wows visitors to Middle East
The ‘ExtraJORDANary’ campaign will run until September 2016 with the objective of attracting visitors to Jordan and increasing arrival figures in 2016 and into 2017. Jordan is home to a plethora of extraordinary attractions, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Petra and the Dead Sea, a world wonder in its own right and, sitting at 400 metres below sea level, the lowest point on earth.
Jordan launches new partnership with Qantas Airways
The Jordan Tourism Board and Qantas Airways have committed to undertake joint promotional activities in Australia and Jordan to support tourism and trade between the two countries. The joint activities will include a series of tactical promotions using Qantas sales channels and industry partners in Australia and in Jordan.
Jordan moves to spur tourism sector with visa waiver
The Jordanian government has approved several measures to uplift the tourism sector, designed to make travelling to Jordan more convenient for people of all nationalities. Most significantly visa fees are to be waived for tourists of all nationalities with immediate effect. The move applies to visitors coming through Jordanian tour operators, whether travelling individually or in groups.

Jordan Tourism Board offers financial support to charter flight sector
Jordan Tourism Board has said it will provide commercial support for charter flights with immediate effect. The Charter Support Programme will cover the cost of empty charter seats providing the operator meets the programme’s various criteria including running 16 or more direct flights over a four month period averaging no less than one flight every calendar week.
Jordan waives departure tax to Aqaba
Departure tax for tourists travelling in groups to Jordan flying into the Red Sea resort of Aqaba will be waived until next year as part of wider efforts to boost visitors to the destination the tourism board has announced. Groups flying on low cost carriers and charter flights into Aqaba’s King Hussein Airport will no longer be required to pay the departure tax of 40JOD (£34) per person until February 26th 2015 following a decision made by the ministry of finance.
Record number of Brits visit Jordan
The Jordan Tourist Board has announced a growth of 20 per cent in UK visitor numbers in August 2013 – a record number of visitors for that month. Jordan welcomed 5,707 UK tourists to the country in August 2013, compared to 4,754 the previous year.
