Hotel Son Antem boosts Iberostar offering in Majorca
Hotel Son Antem, until recently under the control of the Marriot hotel group, has now joined the Iberostar Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio and opened its doors to guests. The hotel is the first five-star Iberostar resort on Majorca and expands the brand’s offering on the Spanish island to 14 hotels offering couples and families a variety of services.

Iberostar is to pay Thomas Cook a further €10 million in guarantees after confirming it would miss the June 29th deadline to complete the purchase of Hoteles Y Clubs De Vacaciones. The Spanish hotel giant agreed to buy HVC from struggling UK tour operator Thomas Cook in December last year.

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has revealed its new segmentation plan, dividing it’s collection of more than 100 hotels, in 15 countries around the world, into four distinctive categories. Iberostar Hotels welcomes new Cancun property
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts officially opened the new Iberostar Cancun during an inauguration ceremony this morning with Miguel Fluxá, executive chairman of the company, and Antonio Banderas, brand ambassador since 2010. The brand invested €79 million in the purchase and renovation of the Iberostar Cancun after it closed its doors in August 2011 for the refurbishment of facilities.
Iberostar reports up-tick in reveue
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has reported turnover of €950 million for 2011, a 7.8 per cent increase on the previous year. Currently the Spanish hotel chain has more than 100 hotels in 15 countries, 67,000 beds and over 21,000 employees in its service.
Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey opens in Tenerife
The Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey has opened its doors in style with performances from the Choir of Saint Marc de Lyon and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, marking the grand opening of Iberostar second city opening. To capture the atmosphere of the hotel’s original opening in the 1950s, 40 actors took 500 guests back in time to recreate the magic of the 50s while also bringing a touch of glamour to the grand opening event.
Thomas Cook sells HCV interest to Iberostar to clear debts
Thomas Cook has announced it will sell its interest in Hoteles Y Clubs De Vacaciones to hotel operator Grupo Iberostar. HCV is a holding company that, together with another shareholder, indirectly owns five Spanish hotels and one golf club as well as operating a second golf club in Spain.
Iberostar opens first urban property in Budapest
Iberostar executive chairman Miguel Fluxa has opened the new Grand Hotel Budapest – the first urban property from the Spanish resort brand. The opening was attended by the Spanish ambassador to Hungary, Enrique Pastor de Gana, Fernando Masaveu, President of Masaveu International, and Zsold Becsey, commissioner to the prime minister.
