China Airlines is returning to the UK following a five-year hiatus, with the launch of a new non-stop service between London Gatwick and Taipei’s Taoyuan International from December.

Airbus has delivered its 100th A350 XWB, just some 30 months after the first delivery of the world’s most modern wide-body aircraft in December 2014. The aircraft delivered is an A350-900 for China Airlines.

China Airlines becomes latest operator of A350 XWB
China Airlines has taken delivery of its first A350-900, becoming the ninth airline to operate the world’s newest and most efficient twin engine wide-body airliner. CAL’s A350-900 is configured with a premium three class layout with a total of 306 seats, comprising 32 in Premium Business class, convertible to fully lie-flat beds, 31 in Premium Economy and 243 in the main cabin.
Korean Air expands China Airlines codeshare agreement
Korean Air has announced an extended codeshare agreement with China Airlines, increasing the flights offered by Korean Air between South Korea and Taiwan. Following regulatory approval, flights will be added between Seoul and Kaohsiung and also between Busan and Taipei. A codeshare is an aviation business partnership whereby a flight operated by one airline, is jointly marketed by one or more other airlines.
China Airlines moves into new hotel at Dubai World Central
China Airlines, the Taiwan-based carrier, will relocate its regional base to Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central with effect from today. The first flight, which arrived at 10:00 from Taipei, was welcomed by a traditional water salute by executives from the airline and Dubai Airports.
Air New Zealand licenses Skycouch to China Airlines
Air New Zealand has signed a licensing agreement with China Airlines for its Economy Skycouch seat. Under the terms of the agreement, China Airlines will commence the introduction of the Skycouch to its fleet of new 777-300ERs from September this year.

Delta raises prices following ETS introduction, but China says it will not pay
Delta Air Lines has become the first carrier in the United States to confirm it will introduce a surcharge in order to pass the costs of the new European Emissions Trading Scheme on to passengers. However, China Air Transport Association has said Chinese carriers will not pay the new tax, arguing the EU was wrong to act unilaterally.
