Carnival Corporation adds capacity in China as momentum grows
Carnival Corporation will add two ships to its China fleet in 2016, making it the first global cruise company with six total ships based in China. The move will increase Carnival Corporation’s total capacity in China by an additional 58 per cent in 2016, further accelerating the company’s leadership position in the growing Chinese market, which continually delivers double-digit annual returns and is expected to eventually become the largest cruise market in the world.
Barcelona to welcome new private cruise terminal
The Port Authority of Barcelona has welcomed an investment of more than €30 million to build and operate a second private cruise terminal at the Port of Barcelona. The cash will come from Carnival Corporation, which presently sees seven of its ten cruise line brands use the Barcelona as both a destination and home port.
Carnival Corporation increase shareholder dividend
Carnival Corporation has announced that it has increased its quarterly dividend to $0.30 per share. “We are pleased to increase dividends to our shareholders 20 per cent this quarter, reflecting our strong cash flow from operations approaching $4 billion this year,” said Arnold Donald, president Carnival Corporation.”
Carnival to begin sailings to Cuba in 2016
Carnival Corporation has won approval from the United States departments of the treasury commerce to begin travel to Cuba. Carnival Corporation intends to take travellers to Cuba beginning in May 2016 via its newly launched fathom brand – a new social impact travel brand providing purpose-oriented, social impact experiences, initially in the Dominican Republic.
Carnival completes order for four new next-generation ships
Carnival Corporation has signed a multi-billion dollar contract to build four next-generation cruise ships with the largest guest capacity in the world. The contract with Meyer Werft is part of larger previously announced strategic memo of understanding with leading shipbuilders Meyer Werft and Fincantieri for nine new ship orders between 2019 and 2022.

Heaney takes up financial reigns at Carnival
James Heaney, an experienced financial executive with more than 25 years in the cruise and hospitality industries, has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer for Miami-based Carnival Cruise Line, the world’s largest cruise operator. In this capacity, Heaney will be responsible for all of the company’s financial, accounting and information technology functions.
Princess Cruises to base new ship in Shanghai, China, year-round
Carnival Corporation has announced that the new ship currently under construction for Princess Cruises will be based in China year-round when introduced in summer 2017. Based in Shanghai, the ship will be the first year-round international luxury vessel designed and built specifically for Chinese guests. The as-yet-unnamed ship is being built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, and will carry approximately 3,600 guests on a variety of itineraries, to be announced at a later date.

Carnival Corporation has signed two strategic memorandums of agreement that will add a total of nine new cruise ships to the company’s industry-leading fleet over a four-year period from 2019. The shipbuilding agreements, which include options for additional ship builds in the coming years, are subject to several conditions, including satisfactory financing.
McKenzie to assume new global destinations role with Carnival
Carnival Corporation has announced that Marie McKenzie has been named vice president of global destinations services and sourcing, a new role and function for the company. As part of this new function, McKenzie will lead a team of brand experts who will assume responsibility for geographical regions on behalf of all nine brands, while also maintaining their reporting lines into the leadership structure of their respective brand.
Carnival opens Amber Cove port in Dominican Republic
Carnival Corporation today announced it will begin welcoming guests at its newly developed Amber Cove port in the Dominican Republic beginning October 2015. Six of Carnival Corporation’s nine brands will call on Amber Cove along the country’s Amber Coast – a partial filming location for the original Jurassic Park movie – to give cruise passengers another exotic location to explore as part of their vacation experience.

Carnival Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with China Merchants Group to explore the possibility of two joint ventures designed to accelerate the development and growth of the overall cruise industry in China. The deal outlines a potential strategic partnership between Carnival Corporation and CMG that includes exploring two possible joint ventures in support of China’s ambitions to grow the cruising industry in China and meet escalating demand for cruises among Chinese travellers.
