A new strategy for managing tourism on Majorca is to be unveiled this week during World Travel Market. The Balearic island’s tourism board and its council under new leadership will present the plans to UK and international markets.

The Balearic Islands has unveiled its tourism strategy for 2022 supported by a €55 million investment and a new legal framework. Water conservation is at the heart of the measures.

Javier Piñanes, director of the Spanish Tourist Office in the UK, argued hospitals in the destination were under no pressure, and that the vast majority of new Covid-19 cases were among younger age groups.

The campaign is part of a drive to advise British tourists that travel will be different this year and encourage them to make sure they are taking all the necessary measures to prepare for their holiday.

Casa Pacha Formentera, a new hotel bringing barefoot simplicity, will be opening on May 20th. Conceptualised and owned by the Pacha Group, the opening marks a new offering for the brand.

Tourism minister, Iago Neugueruela, declared: “We want safe travel corridors for our guests from Germany - with the maximum possible safety for travellers and residents.”
