AirAsia Expedia, a new joint venture between AirAsia and the Expedia group, has announced Kathleen Tan as chief executive. In this role, Tan will oversee the Expedia brand, AirAsiaGo, and Backick online travel agency businesses in south-east Asia, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

AirAsiaExpedia has taken off to a flying start since its launch in July 2011. A first of its kind partnership between a low cost carrier and an online travel agent, the joint venture has served to strengthen both brands and extend the breadth and depth of their offerings to an expanded audience of travel shoppers across Asia.

AirAsia has launched an Annual Report App, which allows investors to access its annual report anytime and anywhere. Besides from being paperless, the new App presents user-friendly features, such as universal landscape and portrait views, gesture function with zoom, table of content with thumbnails, page scrubbing with thumbnails and tab functionality.

Flight D7536 has touched down at Kansai International Airport as AirAsia X launches a new service to Osaka. The third largest city by population after Tokyo and Yokohama, Osaka serves as a gateway to the popular historical city of Kyoto and Kobe, both of which are accessible in less than 30 minutes by the highly efficient local rail network.

AirAsia X has recorded strong growth in the third quarter of 2011, carrying 0.62 million passengers, an increase of 21.3 per cent over the same quarter in 2010. In terms of passenger traffic, AirAsia X grew by 27.2 per cent to 3.6 billion Revenue-Passenger-Kms for the period, achieving similar levels in the earlier two quarters.

Gatwick Airport has welcomed the arrival of guests from the capital city of Malaysia for the first time as AirAsia X touched down on its new London home, having switched from Stansted Airport.
