Wild About Seaweed
Known as the Seaweed Lady and founder of Outer Coast Seaweeds, Bernard has recently opened the first Thalassotherapy (sea therapy) Training Centre in North America to educate and train health and wellness practitioners on the benefits of seaweed.
Located in Sooke, 40 minutes outside of Victoria, BC where the wild, organic seaweeds are hand-harvested, the sustainable centre produces the Seaflora Wild Organic Skincare line and Seaflora’s Wild Sea Garden Tea, a 60% seaweed tea using 3 different certified organic seaweeds blended with Vancouver Island mints and green tea, along with offering spa-industry training and unique tours open to the public.
In addition to the Wild Seaweed Tour, Outer Coast Seaweeds’ newest offering is the Thalassotherapy Tour which gives participants a hands-on experience exploring seaweed grounds at low-tide, an opportunity to learn about skin-beneficial seaweeds, along with a relaxing Thalassotherapy spa facial or body treatment. Tours are 2 hours in length plus spa treatment time, and run from annually May through August. Tours are tidally dependent.
