Throughout ‘Tourism Month’, Quito promotes its wonderful opportunities
Quito welcomes September with the launch of Tourism Month and various activities to showcase the best opportunities for tourists in the ‘most beautiful city in the world’, including two major events: the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress and the TravelMart LatinAmerica (TMLA) trade show.
The Eucharistic Congress, the top Catholic event of the year, will take place from 8–15 of this month, while the TMLA will be held from 18–20 September, bringing together tourism representatives, particularly from Quito and Ecuador, and a conglomerate of international tour operators seeking to promote this Latin American destination. The head venue for these two events will be the Quito Metropolitan Convention Centre (CCMQ), in the north of the city.
The Eucharistic Congress, under the slogan ‘Brotherhood to heal the world’, will bring together representatives of the Catholic Church from all over the world. This event returns to Latin America after 20 years, when it was last hosted by Guadalajara in 2004. This year, it will open its doors to parishioners from the capital and guests for three large Masses held on Sunday 8th, Thursday 12th and Sunday 15th, and a procession that will take place on Saturday 14th.
Meanwhile, the TMLA is recognised as the most important business gathering for tourism in Latin America from global markets, in which Quito can position itself as a tourist destination by showcasing its culture, attractions and gastronomy.
At the same time, Quito is excited to celebrate Tourism Month, a special time for exploring, discovering and enjoying the Ecuadorian capital in all its glory.
For this reason, Quito Turismo continuously promotes and publicises Quito’s rich cultural heritage, impressive architecture, vibrant city life and unique rural experiences.

Through these experiences, participants can get involved and learn about the creation of handicrafts, food products, traditional ceremonies, tastings, and enjoy a hike in places connected to nature.
Also this month, the municipal public enterprise presents the launch of ‘Manos a La Ronda’, with traditional games such as table football, toad toss, spinning tops and others, that both young and old can enjoy together in this traditional neighbourhood in the city centre.
And not only that, Quito has a wide range of tourism opportunities for everyone, including activities linked to history, heritage, music, art, culture, adventure and more. From the Historic Centre, the biggest and most well-preserved in Latin America, to the range of entertainment in modern Quito, down to the activities that 33 rural parishes have to offer in the Metropolitan District. Not to mention the cuisine of every region in Ecuador combined with the best international gastronomy, available in the capital of the Middle of the World.
