Strong third quarter for travel technology providers Amadeus

Travel technology company Amadeus has reported a strong financial performance for the three months to September.

Adjusted net profit for the period rose 9.3 per cent from the same period last year, standing at €344.7 million.

This was thanks to strong demand for travel during the summer months.

At the same time, revenues rose 11 per cent to €1,548 million in the third quarter, driven by an increase in the number of bookings and a 6.4 per cent rise in revenue per booking.

Bookings grew 4.4 per cent in the three months to September from a year ago to 118 million, although the figure was still below the 155 million bookings recorded in the same period in 2019, before the pandemic hit the industry.

Luis Maroto, chief executive of Amadeus, commented: “We have delivered a high-growth, profitable and cash-generative evolution in the first nine months of 2024, supported by strong performances across our businesses.

“Based on our solid financial situation to date and our prospects for the fourth quarter, we reiterate our confidence on the outlook we issued at the beginning of the year.

“We are confident about the growth opportunities ahead for Amadeus and we are committed to achieving them.

“Amadeus is accelerating investment and aims to become the undisputed aggregator of NDC volumes for airlines and travel agencies, to lead the airline IT retailing transformation, and to be the IT provider of reference to the hospitality industry.”
