Sixt combines car sharing and rental with new app

Sixt has launched its car sharing offer Sixt share.

Via its new Sixt app, Sixt offers its customers a highly innovative car sharing service: Sixt share will give customers the freedom to return their vehicles flexibly beyond Sixt share business areas – at over 2,200 Sixt stations worldwide and also in all business areas.

The launch of the offer in other European countries is planned for the end of the year.

Alexander Sixt, chief strategy officer of Sixt, said: “By continuously connecting our vehicles, we are breaking down the barriers between car rental and car sharing.

“With Sixt share, we are not only launching another car sharing brand, but are defining a new product category by merging car rental and car sharing.”

In contrast to other providers, Sixt connects its fleet and can therefore use vehicles flexibly in the two areas of car sharing and car rental.

This removes the limits of car sharing and Sixt can flexibly offer its customers what they want – unlimited mobility.

Thus, Sixt will be able to also implement its combined offer in smaller and medium-sized cities.

With Sixt share, 20 million customers profit from being able to access Sixt’s diverse fleet, which includes various manufacturers and models.

Furthermore, customers can always automatically enjoy the most affordable rates thanks to an artificial-intelligence-based pricing system: they can rent SIXT vehicles for a few minutes or up to 27 days.

If the minute price for the period driven exceeds the current daily price, customers automatically pay the lower daily price.

Nico Gabriel, managing director of Sixt X division, added: “Sixt share is as close to the customer as possible.

“No other offer takes into account the freedom of choice and flexibility of the customer to this extent and on this qualitative level: Sixt share is another step on the path towards our goal of a fully integrated and limitless mobility.”

Sixt app

Customers can access Sixt share via the new Sixt app, in which Sixt has integrated its products Sixt rent, Sixt share and Sixt ride.

With the Sixt app, Sixt offers its customers a real alternative to their own car.

Customers will have access to Sixt’s integrated offers of car rental, car sharing and ride services in a single app.

In addition, the app also integrates services from partners without customers having to leave the app.

Sixt is thus forging a strategic alliance for mobility.

In an initial step, this will take place in the area of taxi and ride hailing.

Through Sixt rent, the Sixt app becomes a digital counter.

Already today, customers can select their vehicle digitally at top airports in Germany up to 30 minutes before the start of the rental period, go to the car park without making a detour to the counter and open the vehicle directly via the Sixt app.

With Sixt ride, customers can be picked up in less than ten minutes in 250 major cities of Europe and the USA and are able to book transfers in advance in over 60 countries and 500 cities.

The new Sixt app will give customers access to Germany’s largest premium car rental fleet, Germany’s most flexible car sharing offer and a worldwide platform of taxi and ride hailing services.
