Seychelles tourism moves on e-marketing approach

The Seychelles Tourism Board has announced its revamping of their e-Marketing Department. Alain St.Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, has confirmed that this department will be beefed up to become more in line with expectations of 2011.

The Seychelles Tourism Board has been successful in its marketing drive of the islands by being innovative. Seychelles developed new innovative programs and marketing initiatives during the last two years, and it is widely accepted these have helped to consolidate the dynamic re-launch of the Seychelles tourism industry.

The whole marketing focus of the island’s tourism was tabled for discussion just two years ago when a new marketing frame work was adopted. This saw the launch of the “Affordable Seychelles” campaign for the islands through a series of press conferences on the four major continents by Alain St.Ange.

This re-launch was followed by Mr. James Michel, the President of the island republic, launching a new vision for his tourism industry named the “Seychelles Brand” of tourism. The President of the Seychelles personally took on the portfolio for tourism when he felt it was important to refocus on the island’s tourism industry so as to consolidate it for the long term.

Seychelles moved to empower its people to become active players in their tourism industry, which remains the pillar of the island’s economy. This new vision has seen Seychelles move from promoting itself just as a sun, sea, and sand destination to become more events based and to tell the world of its niche markets.

Big game fishing, bone fishing or fly fishing, ornithologist expeditions or bird watching holidays, diving or snorkeling excursions, boating or canoeing, trails and walks, gastronomy tours, sailing, and island hopping have all now been added to the traditional holidays of lying on some of the best sandy white beaches of the world and swimming in the clean and clear turquoise blue seas in a climate described as perpetual summer.

This new events-based destination is also now the home of the annual unique “Carnival of Carnivals,” which takes place in Victoria, the capital of the Seychelles, during the first weekend of March, and SUBIOS, the Seychelles’ Festival of the Sea, that takes place during the first week of November at the picturesque Beau Vallon Beach on the island of Mahe.

Seychelles is now moving to place a bigger emphasis on its e-marketing. Their monthly e-newsletter has always been well received, and can be opened by simply clicking: www.seychelles.travel/newsletter .

Their web site - www.seychelles.travel is being regularly upgraded and modernized to become customer friendly, and they have a fulltime News Bureau working to feed information to the overseas press. Alain St.Ange said that they are now moving with the times to become more up-to-date with the expectations of 2011 so as to ensure that anyone in the world can be fully updated on Seychelles at anytime and on any day.
