Restrata aviation security deal to boost Egyptian tourism industry

Restrata aviation security deal to boost Egyptian tourism industry

Leading British aviation security firm, Restrata, has been appointed to deliver an aviation security programme for airports across Egypt, including Sharm el-Sheikh.

The announcement is the latest step in Egypt’s upgrading of its security: ensuring a long-term, high level of security at all airports.

Restrata will advise Egypt’s leading private security firm, Falcon Group International, who have been tasked by the ministry of civil aviation to provide security at the country’s airports.

Using its experience of working with airports across the world, including London Heathrow, Restrata and Falcon will train 7,000 security staff, over the next six months.

The two firms also signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on establishing a training institute, which will support long-term sustainability of the partnership.

The partnership was commended by the British ambassador to Egypt and the ministry of civil aviation, as further progress in rebuilding travel between Britain and Egypt.

British ambassador John Casson, said: “Nothing is more important than the safety of British and Egyptian people as they travel between our countries.

“I’m proud that Britain is Egypt’s leading and most active partner on the road to a world class airport security system that could be a model for the world.

“Today’s new UK-Egypt partnership is another important step on that road.”

Restrata has a deep understanding of airport security and operations, new technology, and aviation regulation.

Nasser Kamel, Egyptian ambassador to the UK, said: “For months, Egypt has been working hard to upgrade security at its airports.

“Our Joint Action Plan, which was developed in partnership with a number of countries, including the UK, France and Germany is delivering tremendous improvements in security.

“Only last month, the German Government lifted its ban on flights to Sharm el Sheikh and the partnership with Restrata is another step towards our goal of creating a world class airport security system that provides the safe and secure environment that we and our visitors demand.

“Working closely with our international partners, we continue our efforts to demonstrate that our airports are ready to welcome tourists back to one of the world’s most popular destinations.”
