Orbitz for Biz signs on GlobalStar

Orbitz for Business has signed a new partnership with GlobalStar Travel Management, a provider of global travel management solutions, to extend Orbitz for Business capabilities into 75 new countries across Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia (including China and India) and the Pacific Rim.

The partnership expands on existing Orbitz for Business solutions in North America and Europe to help corporate customers build global travel programs with fully-integrated reporting and locally-delivered service and support.

Headquartered in the U.K., GlobalStar operates a diverse partner network that comprises more than 80 market-leading agencies, 75 countries, 3,500 office locations, 14,000 employees, and $13 billion in annual travel sales.  Orbitz for Business will benefit from GlobalStar’s local market expertise, innovative technology platform, consolidated data management system, and global account structure.

By adding GlobalStar to its existing portfolio of travel management capabilities, Orbitz for Business is now able to deliver end-to-end corporate travel solutions with local service and support for all major points of sale.  Additionally, the GlobalStar proprietary data management system – DataStar – is integrated with the Orbitz for Business reporting platform to ensure the secure collection and normalization of currency, and to give CFOs and corporate travel managers a clean, consolidated, and accurate view of travel data from every location around the world.

“We are thrilled to work with GlobalStar to expand the Orbitz for Business portfolio and deliver a comprehensive set of travel management solutions to corporate customers across the globe – regardless of their size, location, or desired mix of online or offline service,” said Frank Petito, president, Orbitz for Business.  “After considering a variety of alternatives, we were confident that GlobalStar aligned most closely with Orbitz for Business in a few critical areas – a commitment to technology innovation; transparent data integration and integrity; centralized account management with local market expertise; and world-class customer service.”

“To say that we are delighted to be the travel management fulfillment company of choice for Orbitz for Business is an understatement,” said Steve Hartwell, president, GlobalStar Travel Management.  “At GlobalStar, our number one priority is to deliver smart travel management solutions with personalized, high-end service to our customers around the world.  We believe the GlobalStar model is a perfect fit for Orbitz for Business and we look forward to the new business opportunities this partnership will create.”

Effective immediately, Orbitz for Business customers with travelers located in any of the 75 countries within the GlobalStar network now have access to local service and support from a partner agency.  All existing corporate travel policies and reporting guidelines – including security, compliance, expense management, traveler profiles and negotiated supplier rates – will be applied to new international bookings.
