Mantis-sponsored Bear Grylls Survival Race returns to London

On the weekend of September 30th-October 1st, Bear Grylls and his expert team will bring his renowned spirit of endeavour, fitness and adventure back to London.

The Bear Grylls Survival Race returns to Trent Park for an exhilarating event of adventure and survival.

Now in its third year, the Survival Race & Outdoor Festival has returned, even bigger and better than before, to bring its brand of adventure and family fun to outdoor enthusiasts coming from all across the UK to this epic event weekend in north London.

Bear himself will take to the stage to present the winners with their well-earned prizes and to see all participants, especially young people, in action taking on the course, no holds barred.

“This is about empowering people to test and extend their adventure fitness, using the type of obstacles that I have often encountered in the wild.

“We all have an edge, and this race is designed to push those physical and mental limits, to there and beyond,” explained Grylls.

Comprised of five and ten kilometre Survival Races, a Bear Grylls Kids Race and a fantastic Bear Grylls Outdoor Festival; it’s a weekend in the outdoors for the whole family.

Saturday’s event day begins with a gruelling 30 kilometre Ultimate Survivor race, followed by the five and ten kilometres races and a day of children’s enjoyment.

The Ultimate Survivor forces racers to truly put their endurance levels to the test.

This event is more than a challenge; it will push participants to the edge, both mentally and physically and they will arrive at the finish line with a newfound sense of achievement!

Finally, the weekend wraps up on Sunday October 1st with another day of BG Kids Races and Family Outdoor Festival.

Bear Grylls Survival Race

Participants will face off against a range of ultra-dynamic, custom created survival challenges, all inspired by the adventurous life of Bear Grylls.

In order to reach the finish line of the five or ten kilometre course, racers will need to demonstrate the application of survival techniques and conquer obstacles placed along the course.

Designed for all levels of fitness, the five kilometre Survival Race is packed with both adventurous and amusing challenges.

Run individually or as a group, it is the perfect event to start your fitness journey and challenge yourself along the way, smashing health and fitness goals!

The ten kilometre Survival Race is purposefully designed to test even the strongest adventurers.

Participants will move through the course with determination, completing our unique survival challenges including (but certainly not limited to) fire-lighting, survival carries, and air rifle shooting all the while navigating other obstacles through the trails in Trent Park’s lush wood.

Lastly, the most daring of participants will face off against the Bear Grylls Ultimate Survivor challenge.

All Ultimate Survivor racers setting off early Saturday morning will be equipped with a Phantom Athletics Training Mask, a resistance breathing device, which limits your air supply during training.

Simulating altitude climbing, as Bear is known for his monumental climbs, each competitor will wear the mask as they move through the course, taking it one kilometre at a time.

Racers competing in our Elite heats will compete for an amazing prize, six nights in beautiful South Africa for two at a variety of Mantis’ boutique lodges.

Mantis itself is considered the World’s Leading Luxury Boutique Hotels Collection by the World Travel Awards.

From beautiful beaches to safari experiences, this is an opportunity not to be missed!
