Good news for commuters as new car park at Warwick Parkway opens

A new multi-million pound car park set to create an extra 222 much needed spaces, will soon be officially open at Warwick Parkway. However, as of 29 October, commuters from Warwick Parkway will benefit from additional spaces as the first sections of the £2.5 million car park was opened for use.

The multi-storey car park, which will officially open in late November, is just a short walk from the ticket office and platforms and will bring the number of spaces at the station up to 959, helping to accommodate present and future rail passengers from the region.

Since the launch of Mainline last September, which resulted in faster journey times from just 70 minutes between Warwick Parkway and London Marylebone, the number of passenger journeys from Warwick Parkway has increased by 34.5%.

Chad Collins, Head of Stations at Chiltern Railways said: “Warwick Parkway is an important station at the heart of our network. Since the launch of Mainline, we have seen a huge increase in the number of passengers from the station and the opening of the new facility will allow for future planned growth. We’re delighted to be able to make the car park available for use ahead of the official opening, helping to improve our passengers’ experience of travelling with us.”

The expansion has been financed and delivered by Chiltern Railways with £1 million funding from the Department for Transport.
