Fashion Victim: Green Day frontman thrown off plane for inappropriate dress
Punk rock kingpin Billie Joe Armstrong has fallen foul of a little known dress-code requirement on board Southwest Airlines.
The Green Day front man was asked to leave a plane at Oakland International Airport in California earlier after a stewardess became distressed by his low slung jeans.
According to reports, Armstrong’s jeans were “sagging” to such an extent as to revel his underpants.
Following the incident, the rocker revealed his frustration on Twitter, saying: “Just got kicked-off a Southwest flight because my pants sagged too low.
“No joke!”
However, in a victory commonsense – and perhaps American idolisation of celebrity – once Southwest Airlines became aware of Armstrong’s identity they offered him a seat on a subsequent departure.
This is not the first time Southwest Airlines has raised eyebrows in this manner.
Last year the carrier ejected rotund film director Kevin Smith claiming he was too fat to fit into one of its seats.
