Delta, Amex launch online travel contest

Delta and American Express launch a new travel contest, the “SiteSeer Challenge,” where the travel adventures of five competing teams of two are captured on video and the public votes on the a web site: www.delta.com/challenge. Lights, Camera, Travel! Delta and American Express Host First Ever SiteSeer Travel Challenge; Delta.com visitors vote for winning team to receive one million SkyMiles and 400,000 Hilton HHonors Points.

The winning team will receive a grand prize travel package including one million SkyMiles and 400,000 Hilton HHonors Points.

Delta and American Express will send contestant teams who progress in the SiteSeer Challenge to as many as four international cities served by Delta over several four-day weekends to film competing videos. All five teams departed for the first destination, Budapest, Hungary on July 26. The other three destinations will be revealed immediately before the remaining teams depart for the next round of competition. The participating teams will complete various activities that highlight these destinations and capture their travel adventures in each city on video. The videos will be posted online at delta.com/challenge for the public to view and vote for their favorite team and video. The team with the fewest votes will be eliminated as the remaining teams prepare to travel to the next destination to complete a new video. The last team standing wins.

“Delta’s SiteSeer Challenge is a fun way to bring a few travelers and the online public to some of the most incredible international destinations we serve,” said Mark Krolick, Delta’s managing director of Worldwide Marketing Communications. “Our website, delta.com, will enable visitors from around the world to view the videos and vote for the ultimate travel team.”

At-home viewers can receive bonus miles by participating in the SiteSeer Challenge. Customers can receive 250 bonus miles for voting in each round and an additional 1,000 bonus miles if they vote in all four rounds, for a total of 2,000 bonus miles. Also, to celebrate Delta’s first ever SiteSeer Challenge video competition, American Express Cardmembers can earn double flown miles on all American Express ticket purchases at delta.com between July 25 and Sept. 30. The five travel teams include: Gwamnisum and Chiwuzo Okwumabua, Team O, from East Point, Ga.; Renee Sherbert and Jackie Kellet, Carolina Cops, from Mauldin, S.C.; John Crow and Stephanie Ryan, Steph and Crow On the Go, from Atlanta; Clarence and Margaret Waterfall, The Waterfalls, from Ogden, Utah; and, Joel and Stephen Levinson, Awesomest Brothers, Dayton, Ohio natives who now reside in Los Angeles and New York City, respectively.

The public viewing and voting period begins on Aug. 6 at delta.com/challenge and ends on Sept. 19 when the final two competing videos are posted for viewing. The winner will be announced in late September. Complete voting windows are:
