US Airways eases change fee

US Airways is making it easier and more affordable to make confirmed changes to same- day travel, allowing customers to bypass the standby list for a nominal fee. To take advantage of the Move Up program, customers simply make a request upon airport check-in for an earlier flight. Since there are no time restrictions with the Move Up program, customers can select a standby flight departing any time earlier on the same day. If space is available, a confirmed seat assignment will be provided for only $25 on domestic flights, excluding Hawaii, and $50 for international flights, excluding Europe. If space is not available, customers may still be placed on the standby list, for no fee at all.

“Customer schedules don’t always conform to airline schedules,” said Travis Christ, vice president sales and marketing. “Our Move Up program allows customers to enjoy the peace of mind of a confirmed change on available flights for a very low price—just another way we are keeping both business and leisure travel a customer-friendly process on US Airways.”

Since customers traveling with refundable tickets are never charged change fees at US Airways
, they can take advantage of the Move Up program at no cost. The Move Up program applies to tickets whose fare rules allow standby travel.
