American Airlines has launched a new section on its website that is dedicated solely to last-minute trips and offers weekend package deals.
Packages which can be purchased anywhere from 14 days prior to departure time include:
? Flight plus car rental

? Flight plus hotel stay (with optional car rental)

? Hotel stay plus car rental

“With our new last-minute packages on AA.com, you don’t have to plan months or even weeks in advance to get a great deal for destinations across the country or around the world,” said Rob Friedman, Managing Director - Interactive Marketing, at American.  “We’ve got hundreds of last-minute packages that are updated constantly.  And, you can even add on extras like walking tours of the city or prepaid dinners.” 

Packages require a Saturday-night stay.  Customers can often depart as early as Thursday of one week and return as late as Tuesday the following week, depending on availability.
