New Team at Macdonald Rusacks

A new management team has been brought together at the Macdonald Rusacks Hotel, in St Andrews, to spearhead the historic hotel’s drive toward four stars red status. Led by new General Manager, Sean Boyce, the team is made up of experts from award winning hotels across the UK who will oversee food and beverage and client care standards ahead of a planned major refurbishment later this year.
This investment in the hotel, which overlooks the 18th green of the famous Old Course at St Andrews, is set to ensure that the hotel both continues to command a prominent position in the golfing world and attracts a burgeoning year round corporate and leisure audience.
Ê
Sean Boyce (31) was appointed as General Manager in March. Sean was formerly the manager at the Swinton Park in North Yorkshire, Hotel of the Year 2004 in the Excellence in England Awards and the highest rated hotel in Yorkshire and Cumbria.
Ê
Steven Lazarus, who now joins Sean as the new Operations Manager for the Macdonald Rusacks was also at Swinton Park. Steven’s first major responsibility is to see the hotel smoothly through the excitement and demands of this year’s Open Championship, which is being held at St Andrews. Overall, his focus is on customer care from the restaurants and bars through to the quality in-room facilities.
Ê
Craig Biddy has been appointed Head Chef at Macdonald Rusacks. With a wealth of expertise and experience of top restaurants, Craig was previously with Auchranie on the Isle of Arran, a hotel that gained two AA Rosettes and was voted Scottish Hotel of the Year in 2004 by VisitScotland. With an important local market as well as hotel guests, Craig’s focus is on creating a restaurant of consistently high standards that attracts a national and international clientele.
Ê
Commenting on the new team and the tasks ahead, Sean said,
Ê
“This is a hotel with a rich and colourful heritage, which has found a place in many people’s hearts. It has a place in the golfing world and it has a place in this historic city. We therefore have a duty of care to ensure that the hotel continues to exceed expectations and deliver on its promise.
Ê
“Macdonald Hotels has made a major commitment to The Rusacks by making the investment funds available and by putting in place the people with the experience and expertise to see it through. It will allow us to ensure that this hotel remains a flagship hotel in the Macdonald Hotels’ portfolio with an international reputation as one of the places to stay in Scotland.”
