Northwest Announces New Memphis Service

Northwest Airlines today
announced new nonstop jet service between its hub at Memphis and Columbia,
S.C. two daily flights will be offered beginning Oct. 2. “This new service provides additional air service options for local
travelers as well as visitors to South Carolina’s Capital Region,” said
Tom Bach, vice president of market planning and Airlink. “Customers
traveling through our hassle-free Memphis hub will enjoy convenient
connections to destinations throughout the United States, Canada and
Europe.”

The additional service to the Columbia Metropolitan Airport will
complement three daily flights Northwest currently offers between Columbia
and its WorldGateway hub at Detroit.

“Northwest continues to provide South Carolinians with great opportunities
in air travel,” said Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC). “And I’m particularly
thrilled that these new flights will encourage more people to visit the
Midlands.”

The new flight will be operated by Northwest Airlink partner, Pinnacle
Airlines Corp., using its Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ), which seats up to
50 passengers.

The new flights will bring to 94 the number of destinations served nonstop
from Memphis.
