Montserrat’s tourism product boosted by British intervention

There are reports that Montserrat’s tourism economy has been boosted by intervention from the British government. Following problematic reoccurrences from Soufriere Hills volcanic eruptions the islands tourism product has suffered and the cash injection is cited as being a welcome ‘kickstart’.Speaking with industry newspaper ‘Travel Weekly’ Ernestine Cassell, director of tourism for Montserrat said that the British government has injected US$7 million into the hindered tourism product.
Tourist arrivals are projected to rise to pre-1995 levels of 25,000 overnight visitors.
