By Ben Kilbey in BarbadosBarbados was left dazzled last night as the Sherbourne Conference centre was transformed to accommodate the 11th annual World Travel Awards. The line up featured a myriad of stars from stage and screen including Sopranos favourite, Michael Imperioli and the Supremes. The real stars of the evening however were the award winners.“This is all about travel,” commented President of the World Travel Awards Mr. Graham Cooke. “The World Travel Awards are the travel industry’s equivalent of the OSCARS and it is really fantastic to see so many stars of the travel industry together in one place.”

Barbados enjoyed a night of celebrations picking up the accolade of Worlds Leading Destination. Speaking about the evening Hudson Husbands, Chairman of the Barbados Tourism Authority, said; “I Would really like to say congratulations to Mr. Graham Cooke and the whole of his team for everything. The notion of the World Travel Awards is a very visionary concept and they are consistently of a high standard.”

“The World Travel Awards have been very successful for Barbados. It has driven business to the island and helped visitation and exposure for Barbados,” he added.

The event was deemed a success by all involved.
