Independence Air Welcomes 2,000,000th Customer

Low-fare airline
Independence Air celebrated another customer milestone earlier today by
welcoming customer number 2,000,000 aboard flight 2054 from Greensboro, NC
to Tampa. The two-millionth customer to fly with Independence Air was Jamestown, NC
resident David Simons, president of police equipment company Southern
Public Safety. Mr. Simons was traveling to Tampa on business—his fourth
Independence Air flight in the past few months. As he checked in at
Greensboro’s Piedmont Triad International Airport he was greeted by a team
of Independence Air employees, and presented with complimentary roundtrip
airfare anywhere in the FLYi system for his entire family. Every other
customer on the flight received a special gift bag filled with
Independence Air prizes.

After the surprise award ceremony, Mr. Simons said, “I’ve been flying
Independence Air from Greensboro to both Washington and Tampa, and I’ll be
flying with you again during the holidays for a fishing trip to Tampa Bay
with three guests. My experiences so far have all been excellent. Your
service is great and your people are great.” He added, “I’m 71 years old,
and I’ve never won anything in my entire life until today!”

The Independence Air system currently features low-fare service to 40
cities with Airbus flights to West Palm Beach, FL to begin on February
1st, and another Florida destination to be announced later today. The
Independence Air hub at Washington Dulles is the largest low-fare hub in
America in terms of total departures. The company employs approximately
4,700 aviation professionals. For more information about FLYi, Inc. and
