By Ben KilbeyWednesday night was one of frivolity and merriment as the Kidd family, in conjunction with the Barbados Tourism Authority, put on a show at the Four Seasons hotel near London’s Park Lane. The event was the Holders Seasons’ annual London party and featured top artists including recent chart topping singer Keedie, whose operatic performances were nothing short of spellbinding. Holders Season is one of the most magical experiences staged in Barbados. Founded in 1993, the Holders Season has established itself as the premier cultural event in the Caribbean and has now become the centre of arts in Barbados. The internationally acclaimed Holder’s season is a glamorous celebration of opera, modern music, drama, dance, theatre and comedy.
John Kidd was not present at the party and so instead his wife Wendy opened the evening. Mrs. Kidd gave a brief speech thanking the BTA for its involvement in the Holders event. Wendy quipped, “John could not be with us this evening so the speech will be a lot shorter this year.” She went on to thank key sponsors such as Virgin Holidays.
Jodie Kidd looked beautiful in a subtle black dress and appeared to thoroughly enjoy the evening along with her brother Jack and sister Jemma
John and Wendy Kidd (parents to supermodel Jodie Kidd) play host to the musical and theatrical festival again in 2005. The stately home has been in existence for over 300 years and is an interesting mixture of English and Barbadian vernacular.
Petra Roach, VP Sales and Marketing BTA Europe, said, “Barbados is lucky to have been blessed - we offer the best calendar of events in the tourism industry and we are the best holiday destination”.
The Season hit the world map in 1997 when the opera tenor Pavarotti ‘played’ Holders in tandem with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Trinidad’s Desperadoes Steel Band.
