Riu set to have in excess of 10,000 beds in Mexico

This September Riu Hotels & Resorts will open Riu Lupita, a 300-room all-inclusive resort. Riu Lupita will be the fifth Riu hotel in the resort town of Playa del Carmen and its ninth hotel in Mexico.
“Travellers have a strong affection for Mexico. The beaches are beautiful, the people are kind and the weather is perfect. With this new hotel, Riu Hotels & Resorts will offer more than 10,000 beds in Mexico,” stated Luis Riu, CEO of Riu Hotels & Resorts, “In December, we will be adding an additional 642 rooms when we open the doors to Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. We want to offer accommodations everywhere our clients want to visit.”

In Mexico, Riu Hotels & Resorts owns and operates five hotels in Playa del Carmen, three resorts in Cancun, a resort in Puerto Vallarta and a resort is under development in Cabo San Lucas. Riu has designed and developed all its hotels in Mexico, with the exception of the Riu Caribe and the Riu Lupita, which were both purchased. Riu Lupita, which was acquired early in the year, is undergoing dramatic renovations in order to meet the Riu brand’s high standards.

The Riu Lupita, surrounded by lush tropical gardens and situated beside ClubHotel Riu Tequila, will offer two swimming pools, tennis courts, access to a private beach club and daytime and evening activities for children and adults. Room amenities include air-conditioning, satellite and local TV, direct dial phones, minibar and liquor dispenser, in-room safe, coffee maker and hairdryers. All rooms feature private bathrooms and scenic terraces.
