Starwood Celebrates Opening of The Westin Kierland

Starwood Vacation Ownership, a division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., today announced the grand opening of its fourth Westin-branded vacation ownership resort, The Westin Kierland Villas. The resort is located on 10 acres within the exclusive 730-acre master-planned community of Kierland, home of the new Westin Kierland Resort & Spa.
“We are very excited to open our fourth Westin-branded vacation ownership resort. The Arizona market is fast becoming one of the most popular destinations for the vacation ownership industry and we are pleased to extend our visibility in the state,” said Raymond L. “Rip” Gellein, Jr., Chief Executive Officer of Starwood Vacation Ownership, Inc. “The Westin Kierland Villas is one of the finest products in the industry and sets a new standard for quality and flexibility.”

The first phase of the resort includes 51 two-bedroom villas. Each two-bedroom villa is designed to capture the modern luxury and style in keeping with the Westin name. The fully-equipped kitchens include everything needed for a gourmet meal, the separate living room and dining room provide plenty of space for families and guests, the master bedroom is its own oasis including the Heavenly Bath(R) complete with a whirlpool tub and, of course, the Heavenly Bed(R). In addition, owners and guests will have access to the Westin Workout by Reebok. Upon final completion, Westin Kierland Villas will have a total of 158 two-bedroom villas.

Overlooking the Kierland Golf Club, The Westin Kierland Villas boasts lavish amenities including a large family-oriented pool complete with water slide, cabanas and outdoor fireplace. In addition, there is an adult-only pool as well as a children’s pool. Gas barbeque grills, separate family and adult spas, a fitness center and a poolside pavilion combine to give owners and guests the perfect place to relax.

The Westin Kierland Villas is an example of SVO’s mixed-use strategy of developing a vacation ownership resort adjacent to an existing Starwood-branded hotel. The primary purpose for this strategy is to enhance the guest and owner experience by offering the first-class amenities of a Westin-branded vacation ownership resort, as well as the added dining and activities of a luxury hotel environment. In this case, villa owners and guests have full access to all amenities at the Westin Kierland Hotel & Spa including its world-class restaurants, spa, pools and championship golf.
