Holland America Line Introduces New Spa Packages

Guests of Holland America Line now can luxuriate in even greater comfort with four new spa treatments and tone up with eight new fitness programs being offered in the Steiner-operated spas on all Holland America ships.

“The fitness center on Holland America Line ships is a haven for mind, body and soul,” said Johan Groothuizen, vice president of marine hotel operations. “We are always looking for ways to offer our guests more choices. These new therapies developed by Steiner Spas help to relax and de-stress our guests and our fitness programs will enhance posture, flexibility and cardio-vascular capacity.”

Created by Elemis, a premium brand of skincare products and spa therapies, the new exotic therapies were designed to provide a unique experience utilizing a wide range of healing, soothing and relaxation practices.
In addition to the new therapies, Holland America Line is launching a new set of physical fitness programs that energize and burn calories while focusing on balance, concentration and inner strength. Classes feature expanded activities from aquarobics and step-classes to Ki-bo and yoga toning.
“Yoga and other alternative fitness programs are becoming more and more popular among the passengers on our ships, so we think it`s a perfect time to expand the class offerings on the Holland America ships,” added Groothuizen.
An entire roster of classes has been custom-developed for Holland America Line and Steiner has invested in additional training to qualify its fitness professionals. The following is a list of new spa and fitness programs:
NEW TREATMENTS - Well-Being Massage: This hour-long treatment combines warmed pure massage oils and massage to create wellness of body and soul. Guests may relax away stress with oils of lavender, chamomile, melissa, geranium and bergamot, or detoxify with lemon, lime, peppermint and grapefruit oils.

Aroma Stone Therapy: Aroma stone therapy uses the healing power of stones to relax, harmonize energy and invoke a meditative state. The stones are warmed and anointed with spicy, sensual aromas of the Orient, and placed on key energy points of the body. The penetrating heat of the volcanic basalt stone combines with traditional massage and aromatherapy to release muscular tension.
Sole Delight Foot Treatment or Exotic Hand Ritual: Warmed aromatherapy oils nourish and condition the feet or hands and the nails, while the decadence of milk and exotic frangipani monoi oil lavish their richness and healing action on the skin.
Frangipani Conditioning Hair and Scalp Ritual: Monoi oil, used for centuries in Tahiti to soften the skin and hair of brides, is the secret to this treatment. Included is a soothing deep scalp massage after the Tahitian monoi oil is left on the hair and scalp for 15 minutes under a warmed towel.

NEW FITNESS CLASSES - New Body Step & New Body Aquarobics: Two new aerobic classes offer both dynamic easy-to-follow combinations and invigorating music in the fitness work-out room and the opportunity to strengthen, tone and energize in the Lido swimming pool. New Body Sculpt: Set to rhythmic music, New Body Sculpt tones the abs, buns and thighs. Technical moves give astounding results. New Body Circuit: This class combines the best of aerobic and resistance activities in a quick and explosive workout designed to maximize fitness. Participants are typically active and looking to hit a new plateau in conditioning.

Pilates One-on-One Body Reformer Instruction & Perfect Pilates Class: The Pilates Method improves flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk. Not just exercise, Pilates is a series of controlled Yogo-like movements engaging the body and mind, and performed on specifically designed exercise apparatus. Using the Pilates technique, instructors help guests enhance circulation, respiration and muscle strength through one-on-one or class instruction.

Pathway to Yoga:Yoga offers a pathway to inner peace through specific postures and breathing techniques. This class offers a synergy of Yoga styles through movement, postures and visualization techniques.

New Body Ki-Bo: This class including boxercise, kick-boxing and aerobic conditioning to push participants to their cardio-vascular limit.
