Henley on Thames, February 2010: MG Hotels Group has announced the opening of new brasseries at both of its landmark riverside and boutique hotels, The Red Lion at Henley on Thames and The Manor, near Windsor. The new brasseries will open daily from 7a.m., serving an extensive menu suitable for any time of day, from breakfast pastries made on the premises and full English breakfast, to small dishes and salads, pasta and risottos through to grills, main courses and fish dishes.

“We aim to capture the true brasserie atmosphere and spirit found in Europe and have given this a twist to fine-tune it to British tastes.” says Mandip Gill, MG Hotels’ Managing Director. “People can come into our brasseries throughout the day and eat to suit their appetite from an extensive menu, relax in comfortable surroundings and generally de-stress. Our menus feature French and Italian influences, including such classics as cassoulet and lobster tagliatelli, alongside familiar British favourites such as locally-sourced sausages with mash. Our emphasis is on delicious and affordable food, attractively presented and prepared from scratch by our team of in-house chefs. There will also be a Specials Board offering at least six choices based on seasonal ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible – we are fortunate to have some very fine artisan producers in the region.”

The first Brasserie and Bar will open at The Manor, MG Hotel’s prestigious four-star boutique hotel, located in the heart of the picturesque village of Datchet, near Windsor, at the beginning of February 2010. It has been completely refurbished and is now a stunning series of spacious interlinked rooms decorated in an eclectic style mixing modern luxe with antiques to reflect its historical heritage. Customers can choose to sit anywhere in the public areas of The Manor, either at tables in the beautiful main restaurant and bar area, with its silver-framed mirrors, large tables, comfortable chairs and purple upholstered bench seating, or go through to a relaxed lounge area with leather sofas, fireplace and coffee tables. A smaller lounge with deep comfy sofas, bookcases and a fireplace feels very much like a private country house, ideal for a chat with friends or an informal business meeting. The courtyard area has patio heaters and is open all year round.

“The public has become more discerning and expects freedom and choice. Our brasseries meet this expectation and make eating well at any time of day an affordable indulgence, not a rare and expensive treat.” comments Mandip.
