Bombardier continues modernising Pan European Rail Corridor X crossing Croatia
With the BOMBARDIER INTERFLO 250 ERTMS/ETCS Level 1 system already in successful service in Croatia,Bombardier is now upgrading another important section connecting Okucani and Novska. Bombardier Transportation is upgrading an additional section of the Pan European Corridor X, in Croatia, with its European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) / European Train Control System (ETCS) technology. The INTERFLO 250 ERTMS/ETCS Level 1 solution to be installed on the 20km, double track section of the line connecting the stations of Okucani and Novska, has been successfully operating in Croatia for ten months, on the upgraded 33.5 km section of the same Corridor, connecting Vinkovci to Tovarnik, enabling safe and efficient rail traffic flow at speeds of up to160 km/h. The Pan European Corridor X stretches from Salzburg in Austria, across Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia, to Thessaloniki in Greece.
Adding to Bombardier’s global ERTMS references, this new extension is another important Bombardier solution in Europe. Bombardier is responsible for the design, delivery and commissioning of the signalling system, including the latest generation BOMBARDIER EBI Lock 950 R4 computer-based interlocking (CBI) system and wayside equipment. Activities are being undertaken at Bombardier’s Rail Control Solutions engineering centre located in Rome, where more than 200 experienced engineers carry out projects for Italy, South Eastern Europe, Turkey, the Middle East and North Africa.

With a strong involvement in the development of ERTMS/ETCS technology, Bombardier’s solutions are operating or being delivered on more than 2,500 vehicles and 15,000 km of track in 16 countries. The INTERFLO 450 Level 2 solution has been running on the highest speed lines in China since 2009, has permission for commercial operation on the Amsterdam-Utrecht line in the Netherlands, one of the busiest mainlines in Europe, and is operating on Sweden’s first high speed ERTMS Level 2 lines, Botnia and Adalen. Bombardier ERTMS technology is also installed in Croatia, Korea, Switzerland, Spain and Taiwan and first-in-market projects are being delivered in Algeria and Poland, as well as extensive framework agreements in Sweden and Norway.
Bombardier Transportation’s Rail Control Solutions portfolio covers the whole range of BOMBARDIER CITYFLO mass transit solutions, from manual to fully automatic, as well as communications-based systems. It also provides INTERFLO mainline solutions, from conventional to European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 2 systems. Bombardier provides a complete palette of wayside and onboard signalling products.
