Vaping and e-cigarettes popularity has exploded in the last few years. This is because vaping is considered a healthier alternative to cigarette smoking.

As a traveler looking forward to enjoying your vacation or business trip, you may be wondering if it’s okay to carry your vape devices on a plane.

The answer is yes. However, airports are different and each airport’s security is responsible for enforcing airport rules and regulations. Before taking your next flight ensure that all the vape devices you carry are allowed by the airport administration.

Here are some useful tips for traveling with vape devices on an airplane.

1. Never Hide Your Vaping Equipment
Do not attempt to hide your vaping equipment from the authorities. When going through the airport security ensure that you remove all your vaping devices from your vape carrying case. Remember to carry your vape devices in your carry on bag since it is illegal to carry vape devices in checked bags. Empty your tank before packing it because pressurization of the cabin can cause the vape to start leaking into your pockets or bag. 

2. Disconnect Everything
Switch off your vape devices and disconnect the batteries from the atomizer and cartridge. Store your batteries away from loose change, magnets or anything that could ignite them.  Follow all the security rules given regarding the transportation of batteries. They will help you make the checks less hectic and you will also save your battery life.

3. Clean Your Vape Devices Before Travelling
Ensure that you clean every piece of your vaping kit independently and carefully before you travel. If you have a marijuana vape, leave the cannabis at home and ensure that the vape equipment has no trace of cannabis before you fly. Even though cannabis vaping is legal in your city, there are still many countries that have not legalized cannabis use and if you get caught, you might end up in jail. Pack everything separately in clear and see-through bags.

Even though it’s okay to carry your vape device with you, vaping inside an airplane is prohibited. Airlines and airports banned vaping onboard aircraft due to several reasons. First, other passengers, especially the one who don’t smoke may find it uncomfortable inhaling second-hand e-cig vapor. The cloud of vapor which often looks like smoke can also cause panic among the unsuspecting passengers.

Secondly, there have been several reports of lithium-ion batteries exploding inside airplanes. This is why it is always advisable to carry your batteries in carry-on luggage only.
