Deacon Blue @ The Irish Village, Dubai

Deacon Blue @ The Irish Village, Dubai

The Irish Village, part of the Dubai Tennis Stadium complex, will see 80’s and early 90’s band Deacon Blue perform alongside the famous ‘village pond’ for what is expected to be another sell out concert at the city’s premier outdoor venue. Fans will be singing along to the bands biggest hits and we can expect to hear “Real Gone Kid”, “Fergus Sings the Blues”, “Dignity”, “Wages Day”, “Twist and Shout” to name just a few.

It was 27 years avow when Deacon Blue released their debut album Raintown and then after a somewhat chequered career,  a revival for the band in 2012 with the release of ” The Hipsters”.  Deacon Blue had little idea of the impact that the album would have - sailing into the UK Top 20 in the first week of its release. BBC Radio 2 A-listed the title track “The Hipsters” and as the band toured and the word spread, a new generation discovered the music of Deacon Blue. When the group played at the ‘T in the Park’  in the summer of 2013, they were the talk of the festival. The buzz continued to build and in September they played a triumphant show at the Royal Albert Hall in London,. This turned into a roar of acclaim as Deacon Blue ended their second tour of the year with a homecoming Christmas gig at the brand-new, 13,000-capacity SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow.

So from Glasgow to Dubai, and a number of gigs in-between, Deacon Blue will be singing the blues with dignity like a real gone kid on wages day, whilst hipster can twist and shout to their hits at the Irish Village on Thursday April 16th.

Doors will open at 7pm and the show will start at 9pm. Tickets priced at Dhs.185/- are available from The Irish Village, tickets.virginmegastore.me and www.tixbox.com  Contact – 04 239 5000 for more information.
