United Airlines will be offering its customers from Northern Ireland year-round nonstop service from Belfast to its New York hub, Newark Liberty International Airport. “We’re pleased to offer our Northern Irish customers a year-round direct link to New York,” said Bob Schumacher, United managing director sales, UK and Ireland.
United reports record profits, launches $3bn share buyback
United Airlines has reported second-quarter 2015 net income of $1.3 billion, or $3.31 per diluted share, excluding $67 million of special items. Including special items, UAL reported second-quarter net income of $1.2 billion, or $3.14 per diluted share.
United introduces Cowshed Spa amenities across fleet
United Airlines and Cowshed Spa, the premium spa and lifestyle brand of London-based Soho House & Co., are joining together in a partnership to bring travellers contemporary new amenities on-board and at more than a dozen United airport lounges worldwide. Beginning in August, United will exclusively offer Soho House’s Cowshed skin-care products on board in newly redesigned amenity kits for premium-cabin customers on intercontinental flights.
United Airlines signs $30m deal with Fulcrum BioEnergy
United Airlines has announced a $30 million equity investment in US-based alternative fuels developer Fulcrum BioEnergy, a pioneer in the development and commercialisation of converting municipal solid waste into low-cost sustainable aviation biofuel. It is also the single largest investment by a US airline in alternative fuels and sets United apart in the aviation industry in the advancement of aviation biofuels and carbon emissions reductions.

United Airlines and Air China are expanding their code-sharing cooperation, covering an additional 22 routes in the China and U.S. markets. With this expansion, United and Air China will codeshare together on more than 110 routes, offering customers the most comprehensive route network between the U.S. and China.

Boeing delivers first South Carolina built Dreamliner 787-9
Boeing has delivered the first 787-9 Dreamliner assembled at its North Charleston, South Carolina, facility to United Airlines. The airplane also marks a milestone for the 787 program as the 250th Dreamliner to be delivered. “In 2012, we delivered our first South Carolina-built 787-8, and less than three years later, we’re celebrating another significant milestone – our first 787-9 delivery,” said Beverly Wyse, vice president and general manager, Boeing South Carolina.
United Airlines reports £2bn profit for 2014
United Airlines has reported full-year 2014 net income of $1.97 billion, an increase of 89 percent year-over-year, or $5.06 per diluted share, excluding $834 million of special items. Including special items, UAL reported full-year net income of $1.13 billion, or $2.93 per diluted share. UAL reported fourth-quarter 2014 net income of $461 million, an increase of 86 percent year-over-year, or $1.20 per diluted share, excluding $433 million of special items.
United Airlines flies into Rome from May 2015
United Airlines will launch new non-stop flights between its Chicago hub at O’Hare International Airport and Rome on May 16th, 2015, subject to government approval. The summer-season service will operate five-times-weekly through June 3rd, daily from June 4th to August 17th, and six-times-weekly from August 18th through September 23rd, 2015.
