Uber has agreed to sell its Chinese business to rival Didi Chuxing. The taxi-booking app will retain separate branding in the country, with Uber also taking a 5.9 per cent stake in the combined company. Didi Chuxing - which is backed by internet giants Tencent and Alibaba - dominates the taxi-booking sector in China with nearly 90 per cent of the market.

Hilton HHonors members can now order an Uber straight from the HHonors app, and Uber riders can now view their hotel stay information and check-in, all accessed via the Uber app en route to their hotel.

The French government has caved in to protestors and ordered a ban on the UberPOP taxi service. The decision follows protests by thousands of taxi drivers around the country earlier this week.
