Jet Airways has announced a strategic association with online transportation network Uber. With this first-of-its kind initiative in the Indian aviation space, Jet Airways’ guests will be able to request their Uber when booking a ticket on the Jet Airways app.
Uber has agreed to sell its Chinese business to rival Didi Chuxing. The taxi-booking app will retain separate branding in the country, with Uber also taking a 5.9 per cent stake in the combined company. Didi Chuxing - which is backed by internet giants Tencent and Alibaba - dominates the taxi-booking sector in China with nearly 90 per cent of the market.
Hilton Worldwide is expanding its partnership with Uber to further bring together their respective mobile apps. Hilton HHonors members can now order an Uber straight from the HHonors app, and Uber riders can now view their hotel stay information and check-in, all accessed via the Uber app en route to their hotel.

The French government has caved in to protestors and ordered a ban on the UberPOP taxi service. The decision follows protests by thousands of taxi drivers around the country earlier this week. Uber was banned by a French court last October, but has still been operating while it challenges the decision.

Uber has applied for a radio taxi licence in the city, potentially clearing the way for its official approval.
Despite a recent funding round valuing the company at close to $40 billion, life is not as rosy as might be expected at internet-based taxi firm Uber. The company is fighting battles around the world, with authorities in San Francisco and Los Angeles the latest to take legal action against the firm.
Reports suggest Uber Technologies, makers of the rideshare mobile app, is close to raising a round of funding which would value the company at close to $40 billion. T. Rowe Price Group is said to be in discussions to become a new investor in the company, according to reports from Bloomberg Business.
